_______ ABOUT ADULT DISCIPLESHIP

Discipleship is the process of transformation into the image of Jesus Christ for the sake of others.”

CCF’s discipleship plan is based on the above quote from Invitation to a Journey, by Robert Mulholland. We currently implement discipleship through . . .

  1. Discipleship Classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.
  2. Home Fellowship Groups that nurture believers through interaction in a spiritual community.

Transformation takes place as we submit ourselves to God. Discipleship is the means by which God transforms us to become more like Christ Jesus. Our Discipleship plan encompasses three areas:

Spiritual Formation: Who I am
At CCF we facilitate the spiritual growth (transformation) that God is already working out in the lives of obedient believers. God uses the spiritual journey He is guiding each of us through to conform us to the image of Christ.

Competency: What I know
Maturity involves experiencing God, know His Word, and becoming a skilled servant. God does not require perfection, but He does expect our best. The role of Adult Discipleship at CCF is to train believers to effectively do the work of ministry God has assigned to us.

Leadership: What I do
Since leaders are developed, not born, CCF engages in raising up leaders. Leadership courses emphasize personal growth, recognizing God's agenda, sensing God's direction, and building up the body of Christ.

Discipleship Classes: Courses last 10-12 weeks and are conducted on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. This allows adult students to take up to 8 different courses in one year. Here are some of the benefits of this program:

  1. Adults can take a new course every 10-12 weeks.
  2. If you can’t take a course when it’s offered, it will be offered again within 1-2 years.
  3. You can take courses on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings.
  4. You take a course without belonging to a class.
  5. You can develop spiritually by taking courses in areas of leadership, spiritual formation, or Biblical competency.
